Candidates are sourced from a variety of backgrounds. Please understand to be eligible to apply for the position of Retained Firefighter you need to live or work within a reasonable distance of a retained station. This is to meet the requirements of response times to emergencies.
Most Retained Fire Stations are located in regional and country areas.
Please note that most Fire Stations in the metropolitan area are not Retained Fire Stations.
